Research profile
The Department of Computational Mechanics and Engineering conducts research related to numerical modelling of edge effects, three-dimensional stability of composite materials and structural components, as well as the development of models, computational schemes and software for problems of computational mechanics.
Main research areas
- Numerical investigation of edge effects and three-dimensional stability of composites and structural components.
- Study of fracture processes in reinforced materials under compression along crack directions.
- Study of the influence of small-scale interfacial cracks near corner points of interfaces in piecewise-homogeneous composites on their stress-strain state.
- Development of corresponding models and computational schemes.
- Development and implementation of software for solving problems of computational mechanics.
- Study of nonlinear deformation of shell structural elements made of composite materials, taking into account initial geometric and structural imperfections.
- Introduction of new software and instrumental tools to support the computational needs of the Institute’s research units.
- Maintenance and support of the Institute’s local computer network, Internet network and email services, as well as access to online information resources.
