Website accessibility

Accessibility policy

The S.P. Timoshenko Institute of Mechanics of the NAS of Ukraine aims to provide convenient access to website materials for all users, regardless of technical means, viewing conditions or individual needs.

General statement

Our approach

The website is developed with attention to the basic principles of web accessibility: clear page structure, consistent navigation, readable text, responsiveness for different screens, and compatibility with modern browsers and assistive technologies.

The website is developed as a static web resource using standard web technologies, which helps keep pages fast, predictable and structurally consistent.

Guideline

WCAG principles

The website work takes into account the main WCAG principles: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. These principles are used as practical guidance for improving accessibility.

Principles

What is considered during website development

Perceivable

Website information is provided in text form, with logical headings, a clear page structure and text alternatives for important images.

Operable

Navigation elements, links and buttons should be clear and usable on different devices, including keyboard access where applicable.

Understandable

Website materials are structured so that users can quickly find the required section, document or contact information.

Robust

Pages are built using standard web technologies, which supports compatibility with modern browsers and assistive technologies.

Practical measures

What has already been considered

  • semantic HTML page structure;
  • logical heading hierarchy;
  • responsive design for desktops, tablets and mobile devices;
  • text alternatives for important images;
  • clear and meaningful link text;
  • sufficient contrast for main text and navigation elements;
  • browser-based page scaling;
  • structured lists, tables and cards for large information sections.

Limitations

Archival materials and external documents

Some PDF documents, archival materials or external resources may have different levels of accessibility, especially if they were created earlier or hosted on third-party websites.

When the website is updated, such materials are structured, checked and supplemented with clear link titles whenever possible.
